Deciding to take the Biggest Step in our lives wasn't easy. We've been married 6 years as of May 2010 and yes children were part of the plan but when? We had our house which is one thing I required and I was in baby mode.
But as of Feb 2010 Justin was not ready. I can't blame him it's a huge step. But after months of talking it out, or shall we say me bugging him, he finally said ok. It took us nearly 9 months to finally conceive. It wasn't a we need to do this now sorta thing, there were plenty of breaks and tifts, but did happen. It was also the last month that we were trying that it worked.
I figured if it didn't happen in December we could take a break for a few months. After awhile it does put stress on the relationship. So in Jan this year when found out I was pregnant I was so excited! Also alittle bummed, I'd be a whale in the middle of summer, haha!
Justin is more ready than he thought. He's excited. He is very hands on and willing to take part in everything, and that means the world to me. I am so very lucky to have such a great and of course handsome husband!
One thing we've both found funny was how our families took the news. People we hardly know think we've only been married a couple years so we're right on track. But our families thought we'd been married so long with out children we probably were going to try. Yes I admit, we love our dogs and they are part of the family, but we wanted babies of our own one day. They are happy for us which is great, but they are still alittle shocked which is funny.
I need to be honest about why I wanted to have a baby so bad. It's common in our family to have pregnancy issues and most women in family have a hysterectomy by the time they are 35. I am currently 27. I saw this as an issue. Maybe I could have my first baby and but would I be able to have a second in a few years? This concerned me quite a bit.
Lucky me, we are having twins on the first try! And so far everything has just been chugging right along.
We were so excited to tell our families that twins were on the way. With having my family here in town it was easy, but with Justin's living 3 hours away it's much tougher.
We called Justin's Dad and brother's and told them we wanted to share news with them. Believe me when I say there isn't much going on with us so this is a big deal. We wanted to tell everyone in person.
Justin's oldest brother Jeremy and his wife Tasha made an immediate effort to meet us half way in Tucson for dinner and shopping. We got to tell them and our three nephews Keith, Devin and Trevor about our good news. Right away their were happy for us. We also let them know that we'd like for them to be the godparents to our babies. Jeremy is excited to be "The Godfather."
After dinner & walking the mall we parted, but met again a few hours later with them and Justin's younger brother Daniel. Daniel was excited to find out to however had a concern, where was he supposed to sleep. The guestroom is practically his!
Justin's Dad & and Step mother thought the news was just website stuff so they didn't take it seriously. No big deal, we we're able to tell them face to face so Justin called his Dad to tell him the news. Keith being a pilot was on his way to work and wasn't able to speak, so he told Justin he'd call him when he got there.
Justin called Grandma Lamb to tell her she'd have more great grandchildren. Grandma Lamb dropped the phone, she was so stunned. Aunt Susan picked up the phone to finish verifying the news. Both Grandma Lamb & Aunt Susan were excited. Grandma Lamb remembered my list of demands before having children. Like having our own home. She's very proud and very excited.
Once Keith landed he called Justin to find out what was so important. Justin told him he's be a grandpa again x2! Keith was saying it's about time, haha! From there Keith told Lori and they came down a few weeks later to visit. Lori brought down a few gifts for the babies, books, and a nifty thermometer that's a pacifier. Justin even tried it out. Silly Guy.
So all the family knows, now it's just a matter of waiting to find out if we have boys or girls baking.
It's taken me a week to finally sit down and write about last week's appointment. Last Tuesday, Feb 1, 2011 was the first official Baby Appointment. Our Current doctor is Peter Van Oosteen.
Everything went well, and when the doctor checked the size of my uterus he was concerned it was larger and thought I might be further along than originally said. So he asked that I go for an ultra sound. Daddy and I went to get the ultrasound and as we were in the waiting room Daddy and I were talking about Taco's I seemed to have swallowed whole a couple days before. He jokingly told me that I'm eating for three.
We went in for the ultrasound and were told that yes we were at 7 weeks, but there was a surprise! There are 2 of you! A surprise yet not! Twins run in both families and it seems to skipped everyone, so of course it would catch us! Haha. But we're both excited. Daddy even more than me. Crazy, huh?
Daddy and I are very happy with the idea of twins and hope very much to have 1 boy and 1 girl but identical twins are perfect too. We've picked out 2 boy names Nathan William Lamb (William is a Lamb Family name.) & Nicholas Andrew Lamb (Andrew after Uncle Joe). And 1 girl name so far Olivia Marie (After Great Grandma Mary Lamb.)
Grandma Montes was the first to find out of course! She's so excited! We went shopping on Saturday and I asked to pay for some of the items we picked for you two. She said I wasn't allowed to deprive her of her grandma duties! We found bedding for you two yesterday and I'm very excited to get the room together in the coming months. We're collecting items for you and have 2 boxes filled to far. Daddy and I even looked at strollers and car seats this weekend.
How old are you: As of today we are predicting you to be 8 weeks, 0 days. You're expected due date is September 20, 2011. You are both currently the size of a raspberry!
Next Appointment: March 1, 2011, 10:30AM. Our Doctor Peter Van Oosten, M.D..
Your grandpa Joe and uncle Joseph were just home on leave so with all 5 (6) of us together Daddy and I got to tell my family you're on you're way. I made grandma and grandpa a frame and a card and Daddy made Uncle Joe a little bitty ones that reads " My Uncle is a SEAMAN in the United States Army." We went over Tuesday evening (Jan 25, 2011) and got everyone in your grandparents family room and gave them their gifts.
Uncle Joe knew right away what the onsie meant so he had to hold back and grandma was still reading the card. Grandma was so EXCITED she was clueless on how to react. I think she would have been jumping and yelling if she wasn't so shocked. She is so happy and grandpa is just as excited. You gotta know though grandpa is a man of little words so with all he said I know he's extremely excited to have you coming into the family. We went to dinner to celebrate such wonderful news.
Little Lamb you have this family crazy with excitement, I can just imagine how crazy we'll be with you here.
